While there is no single law called the "PAT Testing Law," you are legally required under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 to maintain a safe electrical system. For a public venue, PAT testing is the industry-standard way to prove you are meeting this duty of care. It is also a common requirement for local authority licenses and business insurance policies.
The performers are responsible for the safety of their own equipment. However, as the venue owner, you are responsible for the safety of everyone on your premises. It is best practice—and often an insurance requirement—to ask any external contractors, including DJs and bands, to provide a valid PAT certificate for their gear before they are allowed to plug into your system.

Yes. We can test any equipment that is connected via a plug, including amplifiers, mixers, and lighting controllers that may be installed in a rack or fixed to a wall. For hard-wired installations, a Fixed Wire Test (EICR) is required.

* The invoiced number of appliances will be the number of appliances actually tested or inspected by the engineers. The actual number tested/inspected may be more or less than the quoted number either way the invoice will reflect this. If the actual number falls into a different price bracket as stated on our website the price per appliance and attendance fee charges for that price bracket will automatically be applied to the invoice.
** While performing testing our engineers will perform minor remedials to failed equipment if possible to ensure any disruptions to the business are minimised. Any minor appliance rewires and replacement of damaged plugs will be rectified and applied to the invoice. Any more extensive repairable issues will be reported to the responsible persons of the business and repair price agreed before a repair takes place. If an appliance is unrepairable on site it will be taken out of service.
