An EICR assesses the condition of a building's fixed electrical installation. It is a separate service from PAT testing, which concerns electrical equipment and appliances.

Before an inspection, agree which parts of the installation are included, how the inspector will access them and which circuits can be isolated. Highlight critical systems, tenants, shared areas and operating hours.
Some tests require the electricity supply to be switched off. Any agreed limitations should be stated in the report; equipment that cannot be accessed or tested should not be presented as having passed.

Send the address, approximate size, use of the building, previous EICR and any known faults or recent changes. Include access arrangements and the date by which you need the report.
The PAT calculator prices appliance testing only. An EICR needs a separate quotation.
AFTER THE INSPECTION
Discuss the findings and any required investigation or remedial work with the inspector. Repairs are a separate scope unless expressly included in the quotation; any electrical work should receive the appropriate documentation.
